Susan Fleischer,
our Chief Operating Officer, was honored at the National Association
of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM). She received the Adele Elkind Award, the highest honor
that the association gives. Susan has dedicated her career to
the advancement of professional geriatric care managers. She
has made more than 70 professional presentations to across the
country, imparting her knowledge and sharing her experience
with others in the field. She has also had numerous leadership
roles and currently serves as the Chair of the Chapter Presidents Committee and the Chapter Development Committee for the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) for 2008 and is the president of the Florida Geriatric
Care Managers Association. Congratulations, Susan, on this important
achievement.
Susan Fleischer has 21 years of experience in services
to older adults, the chronically ill and their families. Ms. Fleischer
is well versed in the resources of the local community that support
the needs of older adults and the chronically ill.
Ms. Fleischer received her Masters Degree in Social Work from
the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville,
Kentucky. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker(LCSW) in
the State of Florida, holds the national certification as a
member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers (ACSW), and
Diplomate in Clinical Social Work(DCSW) through the National
Association of Social Workers, and is a Care Manager Certified
(CMC) through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers
and is a Certified Social Worker Manager through the Academy
of Certified Social Work Managers.
In 1995, Ms. Fleischer was honored with the Social Worker of
the Year award from the Gulfstream Chapter of NASW.
Ms. Fleischer has written several articles for publication
in the area of caregiving for elders. She has been a presenter
at many international, national, and local conferences in the
field of aging and caregiving. Her commitment to training professional
and family caregivers has also lead her to chair or participate
in the implementation of many symposia, task forces and committees.
Ms. Fleischer was a founder and served as the Chairperson of the Palm Beach County
Partnership for Aging Coalition from 1997 to 2001. Ms. Fleischer is an adjunct
professor at Florida Atlantic University and teaches in their
Social Work Department. She is also a clinical instructor for
Barry University School of Social Work, Florida International
University and Florida Atlantic University supervising social
work interns.
