Rona S. Bartelstone is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Care
Manager Certified, and a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.
A Cum Laude graduate of the University of New York at Buffalo,
Rona earned her Masters in Social Work at Indiana University.
She has taught the psychology of aging, healthy aging and other
courses on coping with aging parents for adult education of the
Dade County School Board, Miami Dade Community College, and Broward
Community College.
Also, she has taught at Nova University in their Master Degree
Gerontology Program, and at Florida International University,
Graduate School of Social Work on Geriatric Care Management.
She is also involved in extensive training and consultation
in the area of aging, caregiving and programming for chronic
care needs.
Active in many community and professional organizations, Rona
is a founder and past President of the National Association
of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (GCM). She currently
is a founder and Vice President of the National Academy of Certified
Care Managers (NACCM), an independent, non-profit, credentialing
organization.
Rona was a Board member of the Greater Miami Alzheimer’s
Association Chapter and Chaired the Annual Educational Forum
from 1994 to 2000. In addition, she is past Vice President and Treasurer
of the Florida Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers.
Rona is a member of the National Council on the Aging and a delegate
to the National Institute on Community Long Term Care (NICLIC),
the Gerontological Society of American and the American Society
on Aging for which she’ll be co-chaired the International
Care/Case Management Conference in 2001.
She is a regular presenter at the national and international
conferences of these professional associations. Furthermore,
she is on the Editorial Board of "The Case Management Advisor".
Rona has been a regular contributing author to numerous professional
publications. Rona has worked with the Florida Department of
Elder Affairs on a Task Force to develop an Ethics Curriculum
in long term care.
Rona was named Social Worker of the Year in 1983 in Dade County,
as well as the recipient of the Women’s Committee of 100
Trail Blazer’s Award in 1984. Moreover, she has been listed
in Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals since 1988
and in Who’s Who of American Women since 1990. She received
the Up and Comers Award in healthcare from Price Waterhouse and
the South Florida Business Journal in 1990. Rona is also a member
of the Academy of Certified Social Workers and the NASW Register
of Clinical Social Workers.
Rona has also been featured in many media articles about geriatric
care management, including the Wall Street Journal, the New
York Times, Forbes, Money, Health, Working Woman, Ladies Home
Journal, the NBC Nightly News, ABC World Wide News, Your Financial
Future with Jonathan Pond, and Healthy Living with Dr. Joyce
Brothers.
